FRIDAY before 12 midnight I am taking on one of my famous PERSOULNALITIES from the poetry book series on
Twitter, the only day I am o the site to read my "book, magazine and blog" fans DM's ,plus check all
messages time permitting. I am pretty busy with editing articles on Disilgold.com, LiteraryDiva.com and LiteraryDish.com.
My audience is very ecclectic and drawn to a variety of topics so I am giving my readers what they want.
Those who DM my team with the name of the alter ego PERSOULnalities I am stepping into the "high
hell" shoes of" for 24 hours, and from my poetry book, PERSOULNALITIES: POEMS FOR EVERY KIND FO WOMAN
are hand selected from a personal grab bag with my eyes closed as weekly winners of $100.
I want to motivate my readers this year to embrace their #JOY, so I am back to one of my first
slogans I designated to the youth entitled, "FALL IN LOVE WITH BACK TO SCHOOL" as "FALL
IN LOVE WITH YOU FRIDAYS," for the adults. The theme and my weekly press news are now syndicated on all of the
sites because people have told me I need to be more visible because I am doing a great job drawing people to great news, promotion
and music. For this, I am all for a weekly contest.
My first poetry book which has
run its course and I pretty much exhausted sales to my base through book fairs, expos, workshops, beauty parlor and
bookstore partnerships. These books are archived online via EBOOK and print format availability thanks to a P.O.D. company
I used for those books way back under my pen name, Heather Covington.
It
feels awesome to hold on to the success of those boosk for life and keep reachign poetry lovers who embrace my work continually.
I'm like the female Dr. Seuss being that I write adult books under other pen names, poetry and even children books.
It's a blessing to keep my first babies in stock and still accessible to my book fans. Many tuned
into my tv show on the Black Family channel that came on 3 nights a week and so I still have some of my most award winning
and critically acclaimed books on the market for my legacy as a writer, poet and the original "Literary Diva."
The book focuses on 111 negative traits personified by these "poetical divas" we
all are at some point in our lives and I attribute original alliterated names to those personalities that mirror
every girls personalities from "good to bad."
Young girls need to empower
themselves to be brave enough to "FACE NEGATIVITY, KNOCK IT DOWN, AND MOVE ON TO SUCCESS!" There
are going to be sharks in the ocean, but you have to "FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU" and keep going.
My first poetry book challenges every reader to find out who is swimming in their ocean of success
and which are sharks trying to rob them of their #JOY with negative energy.
As
a journalist I knew I had to be that "Poetical Mermaid" of the sea navigating my way through sharks
who are competitive, spread negative energy and deceit to encountering treasures that I refer to as gems as precious
as "Diamonds, Silver and Gold" and in other words, real souls who "MAKE YOU BETTER,
MAKE ME BETTER, AND MAKE US ALL BETTER."

the Disilgold community about yourself that will explain why Disilgold has sought you for a perSOULnalized interview? HeatherHaliah:
I created Disilgold SOUL Literary Reivew back in 2003 when there was a lack of promotion for self-published literary artists.
I wanted to give self-published authors as myself a platform to shine so I created the "Get PerSOULnal Interview."
In the process, many mainstream authors took to supporting self-published authors whose books they liked and lending reviews
within this microcosm called forums. Many self-published authors gained book deals, awards and recognition. They always thanked
the mainstreamed published authors that opened the door in their interviews, on their book covers, websites and acknowledgements
creating what I call, "A CIRCLE OF SUCCESS!" This opened the door for me to interview mainstream published authors,
celebrities and new artists. I feel responsible for igniting that 'unity' while it lasted as the Publicity Director of the
Harlem Book Fair, Book Expo's African American Publiity and many other events. I made a difference in the African American
literary world and published and mentioned many authors in my biography, The Disilgold Way: Countdown 101 From Writer to
Self Publisher not realizing I had sewn my own seed and journey to success by helping and supporting others along the way.
Now there are thousands of authors who can gain motivation from a book from a true "Literary Diva" who has been
through the same journey as a self-published author and poet. Sometimes all a writer needs is motivation. Disilgold: What
is your latest book about and genre? Heather Haliah: My new books are entitled, "Literary Divas Makeover", and
"God's 24 Hour Makeover." I wrote both versions so that the books would appeal to both young and mature readers
in search of a beauty guide that enables women from teens to CEO's to acquire success and joy. Writing the book was like
self therapy for my own soul because here I was hosting a tv show, making media guest appearances and acquiring award after
award, but I wasn't happy because deadlines for work and tasks consumed me rather than the joy I had in the process of creating.
I witnessed authors with book deals self destructing to meet deadlines. Everyone always awaits the finished product to judge
you by, but no one seems to take interest in the process of building creations. Completing tasks and being number one made
others happy, but left me feeling empty and like I had to do more to stay relevant, so I had to find balance in my life. I
realized it is okay to take a breather and enjoy life. I'm sharing my joy on my video diaries and doing what I love. Disilgold:
How long did it take you to complete your book? Heather Haliah: I test piloted so many versions seeking feedback, but then
I got a calling from the almighty God the Creator in a dream. It was like an outer body experience. I think everyone has that
dream that God is talking to them. I am all of these media alter-ego personalities via websites like Disilgold.com, LiteraryDiva.com
and LiteraryDish.com that people know of as my entities, but very few people know me as Heather Haliah Covington, the humanitarian,
the woman who makes a difference in young folks lives, is an awesome teacher and has taught thousands of youth to read.
A part of me wanted to release each media alter ego which I know appeals to different audiences, but I now understand that
my work with youth is best kept offline with the events, books and humanitarian causes. Today's media doesn't respect humanitarians
doing great things so I realized this part of me must be kept sacred and unscathed by any controversy mixed with my books
and style of promotions online. It was the greatest decision I ever made and enabled me to complete several versions of the
book series and continue to reach my adult audience online. It's like I am from 2 different worlds and I plan on keeping it
that way. I am using various pen names for children's books, novels and if anyone can figure it all out they are a genius.
Disilgold: What were the happiest moments you have experienced while writing your latest book? HeatherHaliah: I guess keeping
the earlier editions a secret and just getting out there to reach my audience offline without any obstacles. I beleive all
girls have to keep a few secrets that enable them to be successful despite obstacles. Some people come into your life to abuse
you, use you and misuse you, but when you have product nothing can get in your way and take anything from you, but God and
why I follow him with all my faith. I am attracted to God and I believe that is why so many people have supported me since
day one. I can't make all people fall in love with my work, but I am going to do my best. I'm less distracted now and very
focused. I made a contract with myself and God. Disilgold: Describe your writing style? Heather Haliah: My writing style
is intense, bold, methodical, very creative, spontaneous and shocking. Disilgold: What motivates you to write and stay
focused on your craft? Heather Haliah: My father said my writing would bring me tremendous wealth before he died and I certainly
believe this wealth is intrinsic because great things keep happening to me. I feel so lucky, but at the end of the day I
remind myself that I earned everything I have with the content of my work. What more could I ask for? I am just after more
fans of my work and want to keep giving them my best. Disilgold: Do you have a favorite author of all time or someone who
inspired you to achieve your goals as a writer? Heather Haliah: My favorite author and poet of all time is Langston Hughes.
He was a true wordsmith, left a legacy of work, was a simple person, yet powerfully respected and stayed focused on his craft.
I created my 5 Principles of Success Formula based on his life which includes 1. Integrity 2. quality of work 3. professionalism
4. staying true to oneself and 5. Giving back to others.I would write poetry on the back leaf pages of books in my home library
growing up to write like Langston. Sometimes you admire people's work, but you know that if you ever met them they would let
you down on an intrapersonal level. I don't know how many times I hav ebeen disappointed meeting people I admired along the
way as a poet, but I know if I had ever met Langston in his era he would be that mentor and a great listener. There are just
some things you can tell about people from their work. Disilgold: Where do you see yourself as a writer ten years from
now? Heather Haliah: I am like a Jill of all Trades. I have written and arranged over 100 songs, I love cooking and designing
clothes, gardening and pretty good at live interviews. I interviewed Wendy Williams for my own tv show, but these are all
avenues that rely on other people opening doors from contracts to networking. One thing I enjoy and can handle all levels
of business is writing, marketing and publishing children's books so I believe this is the direction I am going in, but I
am always routing for those who take on my past hobbies. Whatever brings you happiness should lead the way. Disilgold:When
do you write and for how long? Heather Haliah: 4am when the world is asleep. Disilgold: Do you have a favorite location
for writing? Heather Haliah: My computer room. It's just me, myself and I and this window that looks out onto the world.
I love it so much. Disilgold: What method did you use to organize and finalize your book? Heather Haliah: I used a lesson
plan book just like a teacher! Disilgold: What other hobbies do you pursue when you aren't writing? Heather Haliah: I am
an exercise enthusiast. Love my WII and Ab Rocket, but I'll put on my running shoes late nights and do sprint runs. I also,
do tons of squats. Ballet is a passion I never let go of, so I built a dance studio in my home. Disilgold: Are there any
hidden jewels or talents that you possess that many of your readers may not know? Heather Haliah: I build and fix things
which amazes most men. I learned how to do so much on my own out of necessity. Disilgold: What have been some of your toughest
obstacles as a writer? Heather Haliah: Realizing my limitations and accepting that I can only accomplish one task at a time.
Disilgold: Everyone has their own definition of success. What is your definition of success? Heather Haliah: Realizing when
enough is enough and ejoying your life to the fullest doing what you love. Disilgold: Do you have any recent good news to
share about your book and tour? Heather Haliah: I spearheaded the Literary Divas Makeover Book Tour because it is my quest
to inspire one Literary Diva at a time with my makeover tips inspired from the book that motivated me to be my best. Disilgold:
